Pamela FindletonInternationally collected artist Pamela Findleton is one of the most famous wildlife and landscape artists of her time. Residing in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (close to Lake Tahoe ), her natural surroundings are the main inspiration for her artwork. Her unique style of loose, yet bold watercolor exposes the unseen, subtle spirit of each and every subject she paints. Pam’s subjects are often wild, untamed animals. She believes that everything in nature has an untold story--a tender side. Pam’s style is distinctive, teetering between realism and impressionism. Pam expresses the hidden characteristics of all of the subjects she paints through her unexpected use of color. This unique use of color and movement lures her viewer into a world of surreal fluidity and spirituality. “Shape and shadow draw me to paint,” Pam says, “as everything in life involves both these components. I see nearly everything as inspirational women working in a field, a wine glass resting on a window seal, the subtle look of mischief on my daughter’s face.” (Pam has five children.) Pam feels, “Color and light tell a story in every moment of our lives. It’s a story that I try to make visible on canvas.” Pam’s Sierra Nevada studio is located on her family’s vineyard. In this beautiful and serene space, she finds artistic inspiration. The Findleton Winery proudly displays Pam’s work on each label; many of which have been recognized on the cover of Wine Times. Pam will continue to be recognized as a master in her own style through her paintings, wine labels, and limited edition prints. |
